A-Level Camp Gas Cylinder Maintenance 301

• Desist from the vigorous stirring of food (e.g amala) on your burner. Do the stirring on the floor or stool

• Contact your gasman/woman to change the O-ring rubber in your valve whenever it wears out to preserve your valve

• Clean your camping burner and cylinder whenever food, cooking water/oil and residues spill on it to avoid rapid corrosion

• Ensure your burner cap is free from dirt or food particles that can block the gas ports and prevent fire from burning

• Do not allow oil to spill into the burner cap because it negatively affects combustion

• Remove your burner cap and wash its iron frame with soap and sponge, at least twice a month. Allow it to get dry before putting it back to service

• Re-paint your cylinder when the paint starts peeling off. Don’t allow the corrosion to reach an advanced stage before painting it
