In an auspicious move that has sent several ‘metric tons’ of excitement into the circle of LPG/CNG Marketers and Stakeholders in Ogun State, the State Government has decided to adopt Compressed Natural Gas(CNG) as its fuel of choice for its Mass Transit Vehicles.
The very laudable initiative, which is set to effect a rapid growth in the CNG/LPG industry in the State and beyond, is already beyond the realm of rhetorics, as the State Government’s officials have already taken delivery of the conversion kits required to enable the vehicles to start running on Compressed Natural Gas(CNG).
In the first phase of the project, as many as 15 Ashok Leyland Mass Transit Buses and two Hyundai Buses will be converted and made CNG-Complaint.
The three outstanding advantages of the CNG Conversion, which are: lower operational and maintenance costs of the vehicles, drastic reduction in greenhouse gas emission and job creation, make the project a worthwhile and impactful one that will enhance the quality of life of the residents of Ogun State.
Niglpgas.com is very optimistic that the Lagos State Government will also commence the conversion of its Bus Rapid Transit(BRT) vehicles to LPG/CNG and start enjoying the aforementioned benefits.
Infact, in the face of very high diesel prices, Niglpgas.com believes it makes a lot of economic sense for all the states of the Federation to embark on the project of converting their mass transit buses to LPG/CNG ; in order to achieve better operational efficiency.
