Practical Steps to eliminate Orange/Yellow Flame from your Gas Cooker

 Camp Gas Cylinder

The following actions can be taken if your camp gas produces yellow/orange flame

  • ·         Clean your burner thoroughly, concentrating your efforts on the cap.

    ·         Ensure that the small ports on the burner cap are not clogged by food particles/residues. Blockage of the ports results in the production of yellow/orange flame. A sharp needle can be used to open the blocked ports

    ·         Disassemble your burner and rinse the burn cap rigorously with kerosene or petrol to get rid of oil/food particles stuck in it, which causes the production of yellow/orange flame

    ·         Inspect the air shutter for any blockage. Remove any blockage by food particles or dirt to stop yellow/orange flame

    ·         Check the jet on the control for any blockage. Use a sharp needle to remove any dirt in the tiny hole of the jet

    ·         If all these actions are taken and your burner still produces yellow/orange flame, change your burner cap and/or the control

    ·         If the problem remains unsolved, contact your gasman/woman

    ·         If yellow/orange flame persists after cleaning the burner, remove the burner and thoroughly flush it with kerosene/petrol and leave it to dry before use

    ·         Adjust the air shutter to allow the required percentage of air to mix with the gas for complete combustion to take place

    ·         Check your regulator to ensure it is supplying the required gas pressure to the cooker
