It is indeed very possible to have gas in your cylinder but there’s no ignition when you use your matches or gas lighter to try to ignite the gas vapor at the burner.
The first thing you need to confirm is if there’s gas supply to the burner.
Gas is supplied to the burner but no ignition
When you turn on the gas control of either your camp gas or table/standing cooker and you hear a hissing sound coming from your burner, it indicates there’s gas supply to the burner.
The problem of having gas supply to the burner, but the burner is not igniting is very common with camp gas cylinders but rare with table/standing cookers.
· Camp Gas Cylinders
When it happens in camp gas cylinders, the problem is almost certainly caused by an oversized air opening in the burner’s cap. A replacement of your burner’s cap is the solution to the problem.
· Table/Standing Cooker
When it occurs in a table/standing cooker, an adjustment of the air opening in the burner will almost certainly correct the problem. It the problem fails to be resolved, contact a qualified gas technician to diagnose and fix it.
There’s no Gas Supply to the Burner
§ Camp Gas
The blockage of the gas orifice is the only reason gas supply gas supply to the burner’s cap will be interrupted.
To address the problem, remove the cap and use a pointed needle to prick the gas orifice on the control to remove any debris that might have blocked it. If there’s still no gas supply to the burner’s cap after doing this, contact your gas technician.
§ 12.5kg Standard, Camping, Nido, Cut and Util Valve-type Gas Regulator-Using Cylinders
The gas regulator is almost always responsible when there’s no gas supply from the cylinder to the burners of camp gas, table and standing gas cookers.
